Thule Raceway Platform Style 2 Bike Carrier Review - etrailer.com

www.etrailer.com Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today we are going to show you the Thule Raceway platform style two bike carrier, part number TH9003. To mount the Raceway on your vehicle, check the instructions for the proper fit dial setting. On our Jetta we need to be at number 7. The rack will sit on the trunk of the vehicle. The top two cables are going to hook to the trunk lid by the rear windshield. The bottom two cables will hook to the lower lip of the trunk lid. Once the rack is centered, you can use the knobs on the end of the rack to tighten up the cables. The trays on this rack will telescope out to accommodate bikes of varying lengths. Undo the latch and slide the tray out to fit your bike. Once the proper length is set, simply close the latch and the tray is locked in place. The arms of the rack will come down and clamp on to the top tube of the frame. We will put our bike in place, lower the arm and close the clamp on the tube. Once we have the clamp in place, we can secure the wheels with the included wheel straps. 0:57

Revolutionary Trunk Mount Carrier Design

The stylish Thule 9002 Raceway 3-Bike Trunk Mount Carrier represents a revolutionary new rack concept that merges premium features of a hitch rack with an incredible ease of storage. The Raceway 9002 secures to your vehicle via Sure-Tight high strength cable attachments that provide a hold that is much better than anything possible with straps. Four cables extend from the core of the rack, two at the top and two at the bottom. Cable tension is released at the flip of upper and lower levers. At this point cables can be pulled out to the exact length needed for your vehicle configuration and once hooks at the end of cables are in place they are then tightened using the side-by-side large and smaller dials at the side of the carrier. Although rigid, cables are padded, meaning they never scratch your vehicle. The Raceway 9003 also includes the Thule's patented FitDial technology with oversized ratcheting knobs for fast, easy installation on a wide range of vehicles with the exact position able to be locked in place for future uses.

Once the rack is securely mounted on your vehicle loading bikes is easy. The Raceway 9002 holds 3 bicycles securing each via the combination of narrow cradles arms with bike straps atop the carrier's bike arms and no-sway cages that attach to your bike frame's main vertical tube. Once bikes are secured with these two elements an included strap is run through the bike(s) to secure their lower halves to the frame of the Raceway 2002. When bikes are removed, the upper arms of the Raceway 9002 fold down inline with the main body of the rack at the release of a few levers allowing for a more streamlined shape and easier driving and parking abilities.

Two-way Locking for Security

The Thule 9002 Raceway Platform 3-Bike Trunk Mount Carrier features locking security on two levels. First, it is packaged with an integrated cable lock extending from the bike arms around the frame cradles so your bicycles are protected from theft. The carrier itself is also protected by the inclusion of locks and keys for securing the Sure-Tight ratcheting cables in place, which locks the entire bike carrier to your trunk or hatchback.

About Thule

Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

Aluminum Upright Car Roof Mounted Bike Bicycle Rack Carrier Light Weight Review

Aluminum Upright Car Roof Mounted Bike Bicycle Rack Carrier Light Weight Feature

light weight and very durable.
Special adjustable clamp to fit bike in place.
Durable clamp with lock system,Adjustable mounting, fits all kinds of cross bars.
Easy for storage when not in use.
No need to remove the front wheel with this bike rack. Just mount and go.

Aluminum Upright Car Roof Mounted Bike Bicycle Rack Carrier Light Weight Overview

Rooftop bike carriers allow road racers, mountain bikers and cycling hobbyists on vacation to transport their bicycles on the roof of the car. Transporting a bike in this manner eliminates the possibility of chips and cracks to the frames brought on by pebbles and debris from the road, which is a common problem with bike carriers that mount to the trunk of the vehicle as opposed to its roof. Of course, not all rooftop bike carriers are created equal, and to find the best rooftop bike carrier, you must look not only to your car's make and model for compatibility, and the kind of mount you prefer.

Revolutionary New Rear Mounted Platform Carrier Design

The stylish Thule 9003 Raceway Platform 2-Bike Trunk carrier represents a revolutionary new rack concept that merges the ultra-easy bicycle loading convenience of a trunk mount rack with the transport stability of platform-style hitch mount rack. The Raceway 9003 secures to your vehicle via Sure-Tight high strength cable attachments that provide a hold that is much better than anything possible with straps.

The Raceway 9003 holds 2 bicycles securing each via the combination of an integrated bike tray from below, and an adjustable frame clamp from above. The bike trays are compatible with all kinds of bikes with tires up to three inches in width and make for effortless bike loading and unloading by way of their lower level compared to many other trunk mount bike carriers. Once in trays bikes are secured to the trays with a wheel strap at each wheel. Stability is further ensured for each of your two bikes with an adjustable frame clamp, located on the upper bike rack arms. These arms/clamps are lowered down to make secure contact with your bikes' frames and then are locked in place. Final security comes as arms close firmly around bike frames using an ergonomic knob that can be locked. When bikes are removed, the Raceway 9003 can also fold up and out of the way, with clamp arms folding down until inline with the main body of the rack and the bike trays folding up.
